Most parents are guilty of it ... they constantly photograph their first born baby. They have every pose of when the child was born, when it turned, when it yawned and when it spat up. They have professional baby portraits, they have cute baby pictures and they have double exposed blurry shots too.
However, as the child grows and especially if he is followed by siblings, parents seldom take photographs and some don't take them at all except for a special occasion or two during the year.
Photographs of our babies are cute, but so are those of our young children too. Why do we lose the zeal with which we use to take pictures now that they are old enough to appreciate it?
Act like a baby photographer
Some parents only shoot large amounts of baby photos on their first child. It is not likely that they love the subsequent children any less it is just that they seem to have much less time to spread out on the carpet and play around shooting from different angles.
The first steps, the first tooth and the first ear infection are not as new to them anymore and they fail to capture as much as they did in the initial baby photography days.
See each child from a baby photographers point of view by looking for the childs uniqueness and facial expressions. Remember that when that child is an adult, they too will be looking for their baby photos.
There is always a way to get cute baby photos
But if you are not really in to taking baby pictures any longer, make an appointment with a professional baby photographer. You could do this every year to build up your familys photographic portfolio and even use the recent baby pictures on holiday cards to send to loved ones.
Perhaps you are a mom who does not have as much time to take pictures of babies as she would like. If your husband was great at baby photography, perhaps a new digital camera with all the camera accessories and software would motivate him to carry on with his baby photography.
Guys love toys with things with buttons and wires and who knows, he may be motivated to take more shots than ever with a new slimmer digital camera. So whether its mom or dad taking the baby photos, once the images have been formatted and identified, both parents will have great results to enjoy.
Children enjoy photography too
If you are not into photographing babies or anyone for that matter, try giving your child a digital camera. You can get a childs model which they can have fun with and upload hundreds of pictures at a time. Older kids can get advanced digital cameras or a camera phone, which again serves a dual purpose.
You could also decide to learn how to photograph your baby properly by purchasing a basic photography book or taking an exhaustive professional photography course to supplement your familys income.
