In your eyes, your baby deserves to win a baby photo contest every day with those big eyes, that silly smile and those funny antics.
But how do you prepare your priceless son for a baby photo contest ... it's really simple, just allow your baby to be himself.
You're competing against potentially thousands of other entries and your baby has as good a chance of winning as the other cute babies out there. Entering a baby photo contest should not be about winning, it should be about taking the time to send in an entry waiting to see what happens.
Realistic natural pictures are best
Don't buy an expensive mini tuxedo or prom dress to make your nine month old look his or her best. Remember itâs a baby photo contest, not a contest on the fanciest clothes or professional styling.
Keeping the natural look makes babies more difficult to judge but easier to enter in a competition, since there isn't much you really have to do.
Carefully read & understand the rules
All baby photo contests have guidelines and rules you need to read and agree to before submitting a baby picture. Otherwise, your baby photo risks being disqualified before the judges even have a chance to see it.
Some of the common guidelines in a baby photo contest includes: the age that the baby was, when the picture was taken and whether he still meets the age requirements at the time of the contest.
For example, if the baby category is open only to children 0 to 6 months, then entering your one year old will be a waste of time. Similarly, do they require digital images and if so, what resolution should they be at.
If they require printed baby photos, find out if they'll be returned and do you need to send a self addressed stamped envelope.
Babies have rights too
Many baby photo contests buy rights to your pictures when you submit them. This means that they may use it in their advertising or marketing materials to display the results on the internet, in print or on both.
When submitting your baby picture, you should be well aware of this and sign the required waiver to prevent any legal hassles.
So once you have your guidelines and expectations in perspective, start clicking away. Don't limit the entry to just a typical pose have fun with your baby and your digital camera.
Take pictures in the bath tub, in the park, in the sand box and in the high-chair. You never know when you might capture a few funny baby pictures and which one might win first prize.
